Welcome to CFD Wives Club
June 18, 2007 the City of Charleston Fire Department lost 9 brave men in a Sofa Super Store Warehouse fire. This day changed the CFD forever! Suzette Dunlap and Angie Baldwin, sisters married to CFD members, realized that enough of the wives did not know each other and did not have the support they were able to give to each other that night and the following days. They decided to start the CFD Wives Club. September 2007 was the first month for meetings. It was an immediate success. The group has continued to grow and stay strong! We have a great group of women and we plan on doing a lot of good things. We are a support group for our husbands, children and each other. The group meets once a month for a meeting, has social outings, volunteers in the community, assist at CFD functions, host a Christmas party and yearly memorial picnic to honor the Charleston 9. We are a non-profit organization and have fundraisers to cover costs of these events. If you are interested in more information, please email us at cfdwives@aol.com. Any wife, girlfriend or fiance' of an active CFD member is welcome to join!
The City of Charleston Fire Dept. Wives Club mission is to support the physical, moral and spiritual health of our husbands and each other. We will carry out our mission efficiently, safely and in a responsible manner.
